1. Who we are
Tractor Exchange is a brand of MarketStack Limited(“we”, “us”), a company registered in England & Wales, company number 17335574. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
2. The data we collect
- Identity & verification data — when you register as a seller or trade buyer, we and our third-party identity-verification provider process the information needed to confirm your identity.
- Account & listing data — the details you provide about yourself and any machinery you list (make, model, spec, price, and an approximate location — town/county, never your exact address on the public board).
- Enquiry & contact data — if you enquire about a listing or contact us, the name, contact details and message you provide.
- Usage data — limited technical and engagement information needed to operate and improve the service. Our internal engagement records are kept free of directly-identifying contact details.
3. How and why we use it
- To verify sellers and maintain a trusted network (performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in preventing fraud).
- To publish listings and route enquiries between buyers and sellers (performance of a contract).
- To operate, secure and improve the service, and to respond to your messages (legitimate interests).
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations.
4. Sharing your data
We share data with service providers who help us run the platform — including our identity verification, hosting, database and email providers — under appropriate contracts. When you enquire about a listing, the relevant details are shared so the seller can respond. We do not sell your personal data. Some providers may process data outside the UK; where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards.
5. Retention
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal obligations. On a valid erasure request we anonymise your personal data in place — removing what identifies you while retaining anonymised records needed for the integrity of the network.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact us. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
7. Cookies
We use the essential cookies needed to operate the site (for example, to keep an authenticated session secure), and one first-party cookie that counts listing views so we can show sellers how many people have seen their machine. That view-count cookie stores only a random identifier — never your name or any personal detail — and is never shared. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
